STRHS-Lawrenceburg Tracks A Year of Growth and Dedication to Women’s Health
January 10, 2025
2024 has been a remarkable year of growth and progress for Southern Tennessee Regional Health System-Lawrenceburg (STRHS). Guided by the mission to make communities healthier, the hospital’s leadership has embraced this vision wholeheartedly.
“In late 2022, we began laying the foundation to better serve our community,” said Rhee Perry, CEO of STRHS-Lawrenceburg. “As part of that effort, we recognized the need to expand and enhance women’s services locally. That vision has become a reality this year.”
A key step in this initiative was the addition of two certified nurse midwives, Chelsie Caperton and Ashley Taylor, to the Women’s Health Clinic team. Their arrival has been transformative, fueling unprecedented growth in the Women’s Center. In 2024, STRHS-Lawrenceburg delivered 355 babies—a dramatic increase from the 259 deliveries in 2023, representing an impressive 37% growth.
This growth reflects more than just numbers. The Women's Center has become a trusted destination for mothers in the region, offering compassionate care and personalized birthing experiences. "Serving the women and families in Lawrence County is more than a job—it's our calling,” says Ashley Taylor, Certified Nurse Midwife at STRHS. We are dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care to every mother, baby, and family – you are our neighbors, our friends, and the mothers beside us on the sidelines and in the grocery store. It’s a privilege to be part of such important moments in their lives."
Notably, STRHS-Lawrenceburg has maintained a primary C-section rate of 21.2%, significantly lower than Tennessee’s state average. This achievement underscores the staff's commitment to supporting mothers in following their preferred birthing plans safely. “Our overarching goal is to empower moms to have the birth experience they’ve envisioned, all within the safe and supportive environment of the hospital,” explains Chelsie Caperton, Certified Nurse Midwife at STRHS. “This journey begins with their very first visit and evolves through each prenatal consultation, always with the shared goal of ensuring a healthy mother and baby.”
As 2024 comes to a close, STRHS-Lawrenceburg reflects on a year marked by expansion, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to the community. With the growth of its Women’s Health services and many other achievements, the hospital is well-positioned to continue making a difference in 2025 and beyond.
